The 16 hectares of old military workshops of Capucins are to become a cultural quarter by 2015. The architectural firm Canal (Paris) is to build a mediatheque, developed along an internal road. The industrial identity of the site will be largely preserved, with particular care to ensure insulation for the interior. A café, a 200-seat auditorium and a 12 room multiplex are also planned.

The former garages of the Navy are now home to shops, restaurants and offices, alongside other new buildings. Public spaces have been remodelled and parking has been improved. The “port du Château” is buzzing with new life and the sailing regattas attracts numerous visitors.
Ports de Brest
After having a sustained growth for five consecutive years and exceeded the 3 million tonne mark in 2011, the Port of Brest should maintain this traffic for 2012. Its ship repair yard, the largest in France, taken over by Damen, is slowly restarting. One of the major activities concerns the development of marine energy resources and the necessary resizing in order to respond to the demands of the industrials. The port is now endowed with 2210 moorings in its two marinas, that of Moulin Blanc being renovated and the "port du Chateau" which, since this summer houses a collection of offices, restaurants and shops. Le Marin
Since 2007, the Brittany Region administers the ports of Brest, Lorient and Saint-Malo. It has undertaken, through the "Port of Brittany" concept, a strategy of mutualisation with which the secondary ports not falling under their governance are associated. The mutualisation of means and knowledge has led to a policy of investments aimed at complementarity and sustainable development of maritime activities. A think-tank on logistics and inland connections is also in progress; and a call for tenders to put in place a "cargo community system" will soon be launched. Panorama of the port communities

The French Government has published the results of the first call for offshore wind farms : at stake, the development of 2 GW. EDF Energies Nouvelles, associated with Alsthom has been selected for three of the four sites. The last site has been awarded to the Spanish Iberdola, associated notably with Areva. On the industrial side, 10 000 jobs could be created notably in Saint-Nazaire, Cherbourg and Le Havre. A second call for tenders will be issued in 2012. The objective has been set at 6 GW by 2020, or 3.5% of the consumption of the country.
